For the record, I absolutely love Indonesian food. I used to travel up to Surabaya for work and I could never get enough of the food there. I felt that it would be difficult to replicate the authentic taste that you get from a meal in Indonesia. Well, I would be glad to say that Tok Tok Indonesian Soup House does a very commendable job of doing just that.
Located within [email protected], it can actually be difficult to find this place. The place did not look too welcoming due to the very narrow shop front. It is located at basement 3 of the shopping mall.
The decor of the place has this very laid back feel. I particularly liked the cutlery that was used.
I had the Soto Mie (beef noodles soup) and Ayam Penyet. The home made sambal was excellent. Everything had a very fresh taste to it. The chicken was exceptionally juicy. To me, there are very few Ayam Penyet stalls that serve good fried chicken. This was really good fried chicken.
Even the drinks look exceptionally good. When food is prepared with great care, it shows in the presentation and taste. I must truly commend Tok Tok for coming up with such an authentic Indonesian taste to their food. I truly felt like I was having a meal in Surabaya. The only thing that reminded me that I was in Singapore was the bill!
Hey you can’t have it all perfect now, can you?
