Despite the current pandemic, new home sales posted a surprise rebound in June 2020. Developers sold 998 non-landed private homes, up 105 per cent from 487 in May 2020. This was shocking to most property analysts as this figure represented the highest monthly sales for the month of June in seven years. This is also despite the fact that property show flats were only allowed to reopen on the 19th of June 2020 after a two-month partial lockdown.
Since the start of the pandemic, there have been limited new launches as developers bade their time to find opportunistic periods to launch their offerings to the public. Developers are instead focusing on clearing their existing stock. Some have offered discounts and attractive promotional packages to get sales going and to a large degree, this has worked.
One of the more hotly anticipated new project launch has to be Penrose. Penrose is a 99-year leasehold development located along Sims Drive. The developer is a joint venture between Hong Leong and CDL. They had earlier put out the highest big in early 2019 for the 174,600 square foot plot of land. There will be a total of 566 units with a child care centre with units ranging from 1 to 4 bedrooms. The 5 blocks 18-storey blocks are located at 20, 22, 26, 28 and 30 Sims Drive.
Penrose is about 350 metres from Aljunied MRT Station and it will take about 4 minutes to walk from Penrose to the station.
