I was dropping off some documents to a friend in Tampines yesterday and decided to walk over the Tampines Round Market for breakfast.
The queue at the stall caught my attention. Upon further verification with my friend, she told me this stall selling Sarawak Kolo Mee must try. According to her, it’s nicer than the ones she tried in Malaysia.
This stall also has lots of reviews by bloggers and rated 4 chopsticks by Makan Sutra.
I ordered the signature wanton mee. There’s a choice of $4/$5/$6/$7. I went with the $5.
The dish comes with a lot of ingredients. A bit different from what you would expect from the typical wanton mee. It comes with boiled and crispy fried wontons, char siew, vegetable and pork ribs.
The stewed pork ribs are soft and succulent.
The noodles are thicker but nevertheless springy. More like a ramen texture to it.
If you want it to be spicy, the auntie will have the chili sauce added on the side. You should try a little first before you mix the chili all in as it is rather spicy.
Their noodles are freshly made. If you wish to, there’s a signage put up that says you can order the noodles and bring home and cook yourself.
Verdict: Must Try!
