I happened to stumble upon Maki-San on one of my trips to 112 Katong. A friend recommended this casual sushi outlet. Seeing that there are not too many dining options in 112, (In my opinion, the good eating places are located just across the road from 112. Along the row of shophouses) we decided to have dinner at Maki-San.
The setting is extremely casual. Think of it as Subway meets Sushi and you might begin to understand the concept. You get to pick and choose your ingredients. Your order then gets prepared for you on the spot. If you cannot decide what to have, you can also pick one of the pre-designed sushi rolls.
Just a heads up, if you are a student, flashing your student pass gets you 10% off your bill.
The sushi is fresh. Please go for the Mega San as it includes a special ingredient. The only gripe I have is that the sushi rolls do not hold. It often breaks up when you pick it up with your chopsticks. Other than that, this is a must try if you love sushi.
The next time you are in 112 Katong, do try this very refreshing take on a very traditional Japanese dish. They are next to Pet Lovers Centre and near LiHo.
