Visited Huamum Night Market in Bangkok for the first time on a Friday night. I like it that it is not so crowded.
This night market is rather huge and took us a while to finish exploring the entire place. The main patrons are the local Thais. I did not really see too many foreigners around. That’s a good thing cause it is vibrant yet not too congested.
People are there mainly to chill and relax, not out to grab items on sale.
There is the main area where you have all the stalls selling all kinds of items. And you even have a barber set up there as well.
There are a lot of open spaces for people to just hang out and have a beer. There are live bands in different parts of the night market. The bands performing that night are all pretty good.
Lots of food options as well (mainly BBQ seafood). It is a perfect place for large group gatherings where friends can enjoy a hearty BBQ seafood or Mookata together with the nice live music going on in the background.
And not forgetting the famous bistro where you get hunky men wearing sailor moon costumes and dancing.
Address: 678 Prasert-Manukitch Rd, Khwaeng Lat Phrao, Khet Lat Phrao, Krung Thep Maha Nakhon 10230, Thailand
Opens: 5 pm to 12 am daily
The easiest way to get there is via taxi. If you want to cut down on the traffic jam, you can consider hailing a taxi from Lad Prao MRT. (I made a mistake of taking a taxi from downtown Sukhumvit and was caught in traffic for over 40 minutes!)
If you want to experience something not too touristy and have a feel of how the locals there spend their leisure time, go check out Huamum Night Market if you have the time!
