With the worsening of the COVID-19 situation in Singapore, the Temporary Relief Fund was announced on 27 March 2020 to help Singaporeans and permanent residents who lost their jobs or faced an income loss of at least 30% due to COVID-19. Up till today (5th April 2020), there are to date more than 60,000 submissions for this one-off $500 financial aid.
The eligibility criteria:
- Singapore Citizen (SC)/Permanent Resident (PR) aged 16 years and above
- Prior gross monthly Household Income (HHI) of ≤$10,000, or monthly Per Capita Income (PCI) of ≤$3,100
- Not on ComCare assistance
Where to apply?
Before this weekend, the Temporary Relief Fund submissions are to be done in person at various community centres (CCs) and social service offices (SSOs). These centres and offices are run by the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF). You can find out the locations of these SSOs from our video from 2:24 onwards.
Do note that the counter services are closed for this weekend (5th & 6th April) but forms are still available for self-collection. You may also download the form at go.gov.sg/msf-covid19-support and drop the completed forms in the drop-off boxes.
Online application available
Applicants can now apply this Temporary Relief Fund online via go.gov.sg/temporary-relief-fund, so there is no need to travel down to the counters. This will reduce the need to head out of home and cause a crowd at the CCs and SSOs. All you need is your SingPass, a PayNow account, and your supporting documents. However, this online application is only available from 9am to 6pm daily. If you are successful in your application, the $500 is credited to you via PayNow.
When is the deadline to apply?
This relief is open for application until 30th April 2020, so there is no need to rush. If you have more questions regarding the application, you can also call ComCare assistance at 1800-222-0000.
All the best to your applications!
