I always have my car servicing done at Alexandra. And the shop I frequent, the uncle has been operating the workshop since the 80s. We were just randomly chatting about how the Nasi Padang at Hoy Fatt road always have a long queue and he told me that the real deal is at stirling road.
The exact address was not given and I was just told that it is near the swimming complex. So I drove there, keeping a lookout and there it is. A very old school coffeeshop (by the name of Khong Guan) with a queue already snaking outside at around 11am.
So I ordered. Fried chicken wing, egg omlette, sausages, fried potato (love that) and curry vegetables. Topped with sambal chilli! All for just $3.70!
Well, the chicken wing is crispy and juicy. Well marinated. Not like some places where the skin is all hardened and soggy.
It’s not a wow but it does certainly gives a feeling of home cooked food. Aka comfort food. Coupled with the very affordable pricing, no reason why there’s so many supporters!
Verdict: Can try
Address: Blk 49 Stirling Road, Khong Guan Restaurant
Hours: 7am – 5pm (closed on sundays and public holidays)
