For the record, it was absolutely brutal not to be given a heads up when shutting down llaollao. The master franchisor of llaollao Singapore, D+1 Holdings, abruptly announced that it was shutting down all its llaollao outlets and replacing them with a brand called Yole (pronounced “yoh-lay”). Well first of all, no one has ever heard of Yole and doing a search on Google yielded nothing about this new brand. Second of all, it just seems like D+1 Holdings has pulled a Liho-Gong Cha stunt in an even more brutal fashion.
Well 48 hours after the shocking announcement and I had the chance to savour this new froyo brand at one of its outlets in Wisma Atria.
It was a case of “the names have changed but it all still stays the same”.
The size of the tubs, choice of toppings and prices are exactly the same as before. In place of the popular Sanum, we have Ibiza. This sounds weird. Even the spoon looks distinctively long and similar to llaollao’s. I’d say they are trying a little too hard. Imitation is perhaps the best form of flattery.
It feels the same, costs the same but somehow llaollao just tastes that little bit better.
