It is really weird that there are not a lot of places to have dessert in Holland Village. Not many people are aware but there is a row of shops not too far away from your usual Holland Village that may offer an eclectic mix of dining choices. It takes about 5 minutes to walk to Chip Bee Gardens from the usual Holland Village. Nestled in the middle of a row of shophouses is this dessert joint named Sunday Folks.
This place is inconspicuous and can take a while to locate. The frontage is not clear and unless you were looking for it, I doubt many people would notice this place.
The renovation is extremely welcoming. The place is very clean and bright. It was rather packed on a weekday night which perhaps meant that this place had a reputation and this is perhaps the reason why they didn’t deem it necessary to make their frontage more obvious.
For starters, let me say that I do not fancy ice cream as I do not have a sweet tooth. However, the soft serve at Sunday Folks is not as sweet as what you would get from places like HagenDas or Ben and Jerry’s. It is extremely flavourful and creamy which was a real surprise. The ice cream and waffles are freshly made so there is a waiting time of about 20 minutes for waffles.
You can choose from a variety of flavours and toppings.
Their drinks menu is rather interesting.
I had the Lemongrass Cucumber Infusion. It was really refreshing!
They have a good spread of cakes as well.
One point to take note, their Sea Salt Chocolate Honeycomb is extremely sweet. That is perhaps the only thing here that is a tad overdone. There was no way I was finishing that.
All in all, this is a great place for a cosy gathering. It is not too far walk from the usual Holland Village area. It can get crowded on weekends though.
